“Because my stitching and designing is just a hobby, I’m free to do as much or as little as I like. Most weeks, the balance leans to the MUCH side of the scale!”
MY STYLE IS:
“I’ve been an incurable romantic all my life, and this is reflected in so many of my designs. I love making beautiful things, but I’m a practical person, too, so I like to make projects that are useful. Pretty and practical probably sums it up.”
HAVE STITCHING, WILL TRAVEL
“I could NEVER enjoy a holiday without my stitching. I do it in the car, on the plane, on the train … I even take my portable craft lamp with me, as holiday venues are notorious for having poor lighting. Even when I’m not on holidays, there’s a little bag of stitching kept in the car – just in case we’re unexpectedly delayed.”
Celebrate your love affair with stitchery with this delightful embroidered design from Val Laird.
SPICE OF LIFE
“I get bored fairly quickly, so I like variety, and therefore spread my interests fairly wide. You will find plenty of wallhangings, bags, cushions, table runners, stitching accessories and children’s projects in my collection.”

PIECEVILLE

“My mind always has more new projects designed than I could ever make in a lifetime.”
MY STYLE IS:
“I am a passionate machine piecer. I strive to find different ways to make piecing techniques easier and to teach this to my students. I don’t have a ‘style’ as such, but, if pushed, I’d say I am ‘traditional with a twist’.”

THE MOTHER OF INVENTION
“After quilting for only 12 months, I landed a job as a sample quilt maker for a fabric distributor. It forced me to work with fabrics that I would not normally choose to work with and start designing my own original quilts.”
FATE ATTRACTION
“This was never meant to be a profession when I started, but I’m glad that I can now fill in ‘Quilter’ as a profession on official forms. I love my job. I love playing with textiles and changing the look of my home with different quilts, cushions etc. And I love teaching other the skills.”
