Quilting with Friends: Michelle Marvig and Deborah Louie

In honour of Best Friends Day (8 June) we thought we’d take a look at the friendship between long-time Quilters Companion contributors, Michelle Marvig and Deborah Louie.

Over the years, Michelle has tried and tested all that’s out there on the quilting market to let you, the readers, know not only what products are out there, but also how to use them. Michelle (before taking the reigns as Creative Director for Quilters Companion) has also contributed many quilt designs to the magazines and starred in a fair few videos during this time, with machine piecing at the forefront of many of these classes.

While Michelle is all about the piecing, Deborah is a domestic machine-quilting expert. Over the years we’ve been lucky enough to have Deborah’s machine quilting advice grace the pages of Quilters Companion, answering all the quilting questions imaginable, and showing you some great ways to do your own machine quilting. Lucky for us, Deborah has shared her advice with us on several video classes over the years, so we can learn even more about using our sewing machines.

Cementing the friendship and complementary skills of this talented duo, Michelle and Deborah joined forces to create a fun online class all about creating a Modern Woven Plaid quilt. If you want to learn from these masters of the sewing machine, you can now watch this class from the comfort of your own home.
