Best Original Design
Majestic Flight, 152cm x 102cm (60in x 40in), Joanne Baeth
Artist’s statement: This piece was inspired by my vision of great blue herons in flight across a majestic sunset. Paints were used on the setting sun and reflections, and on the birds to shade and highlight the individual feathers. My own ice-dyed cotton and silk fabrics were used on the mystical land forms.
This quilt has been purchased by AQS and hangs in the National Quilt Museum.
